And what am I going to talk about today? I’m talking about layoffs. I’m talking about turnover. I’m talking about corporate changes. I’m talking about hiring freezes. All of those words that just make your stomach go into a knot and your skin crawl. I’ve been through it – I worked in corporate America, in the legal and healthcare and medical professions for over 25 years and so I’m no stranger to what can happen in a company that creates fear about job security. And this is what I want you to know – real job security comes from focusing on what you can control. Real job security comes from knowing what you are gifted at. Knowing how you best contribute to companies, making sure that you are continually growing and changing with the times, learning new skills if necessary. So, you just invest in yourself and make yourself the best asset any company can have and then you let go.
